You are fierce. Own it and be brave.

You are fabulous.

You are powerful, fierce and commanding of attention.

Unfortunately, you may have covered all that good stuff up because somewhere along the road of life, you received the message that it’s not ok to demonstrate how wildly amazing you are.

Somewhere in life you dimmed yourself. Why?

Because it’s incredibly uncomfortable to own and demonstrate your fabulousness. Somewhere along your path, someone told you that you shouldn’t be proud, or cocky, or confident, or dazzling. Someone sent you the verbal or nonverbal message of: “Who are YOU to think you’re so fabulous???”

Was it your sister? Was it your mom? Was it that mean girl in high school who felt intimidated by you? Who was it? And if you can’t put your finger on exactly who it was, rest assured it was someone. You aren’t imagining it.

An inherent piece of the human experience is to grapple with self-love, self-esteem and self-assuredness. When a person feels a bit self-conscious or insecure, it’s so much easier to attack someone else who is demonstrating fabulousness as a means to feeling better. That doesn’t make your mom, sister or best friend bad; It makes her human. In that moment when she felt insecure, she squashed your vibrancy because she needed to feel better.

If you pause for a moment and think back, you might find that this situation happened more times that you consciously remember. It happened a lot. And it created a habit inside of you to continually dim your own light.
